Grow your own olives in the UK

Specifically selected cross-pollinating olive trees to give you the best possible chance of growing your own olives in the UK climate.
Interest in growing olives in the UK has increased significantly in recent years, with projects like the UK’s first commercial olive grove demonstrating that olives can successfully flower and fruit in British conditions. In 2025, a Lincolnshire farm produced the first small batch of English olive oil, showing what is now possible with the right varieties and planting approach. While homegrown results will always vary, planting multiple olive trees that can cross-pollinate — like this bundle — gives you the best possible chance of enjoying olives from your own garden.

Here at the Norfolk Olive Tree Company we have been working together with our Tuscan suppliers to grow young Olive trees that will suit the UK climate and give our clients the best chance of growing fruiting trees.

Over the last few years we have discovered the varieties that are the most reliable at fruiting in the Uk. We are now offering our clients the chance to buy maiden trees of 6 years of age.

These trees are grown as standards and are supplied in 10 litre pots. The trees will cross pollinate to achieve the best chances for high yields. Fruiting is always variable in the Uk but planting these varieties will give you the best chances of achieving good results.

We recommend planting at least 3 trees and in your batch of trees you will receive 1 Frantoio, 1 Leccino and 1 Maurino olive tree.

Olive grove bundle

Bring the romance of Tuscany into your garden with our Olive Tree Bundle, featuring three of Italy’s most celebrated cultivars: Frantoio, Maurino, and Leccino. Together, they create the perfect foundation for your very own olive grove – right here in the UK.

  • Frantoio Olive Tree – Renowned in Tuscany as the backbone of fine olive oil, Frantoio has an elegant, upright habit and thrives with a partner for pollination. In UK conditions, it rewards you with silvery-green foliage and occasional fruit in warmer summers.
  • Maurino Olive Tree – Compact, graceful, and highly ornamental, Maurino is prized for its soft foliage and adaptability. Though not self-fertile, it is an excellent pollinator for other varieties, making it a valuable member of your grove.
  • Leccino Olive Tree – One of the hardiest Tuscan varieties, Leccino has a naturally open, airy crown. It is not self-fertile but cross-pollinates beautifully with both Frantoio and Maurino, completing the perfect trio.

Why Choose This Bundle?

These varieties are companions in every sense – not only do they cross-pollinate to increase the chance of fruiting in the UK climate, but they also bring diverse textures, forms, and shades of silver-green to your garden. While large harvests are rare in cooler regions, this combination offers the best chance of fruit set in warmer summers, especially when grown together.

Each tree is tolerant of UK conditions, hardy to around –15°C once established, and thrives in free-draining soil with plenty of sun. In pots or borders, they will mature into striking focal points, carrying with them the heritage of Tuscany.

Planting this bundle is more than gardening – it’s about creating your own legacy, a timeless grove that will grow and endure for generations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can olive trees produce fruit in the UK?

Olive trees can produce fruit in the UK, particularly in warm, sunny conditions. However, fruiting is naturally variable from year to year depending on the weather.

Do I need more than one olive tree to get olives?

Most olive trees are self-fertile, but planting more than one tree improves pollination and increases the chances of fruit production. This bundle has been selected to help maximise those chances.

Why choose a bundle of olive trees?

Planting a group of olive trees not only creates a stronger visual impact but also improves pollination between compatible varieties, giving you the best opportunity for fruiting.

Are these olive trees suitable for UK gardens?

Yes, these are hardy olive trees that are well suited to UK gardens, whether planted in the ground or in containers on a patio.
