Hojiblanca Variety & Arbequina Variety
The Hojiblanca olive tree is native to Spain, particularly the Andalusian region, and is notable for its versatility in producing both high-quality table olives and olive oil. The name Hojiblanca translates to white leaf referencing the silvery-green foliage that shimmers in sunlight. Its leaves are elongated, leathery, and evergreen, giving it year-round ornamental value.
The tree typically grows to a height of 4 to 8 meters with a spread of 1.5 to 2.5 meters, featuring a rugged, much- branched habit. Its small, white, fragrant flowers bloom in spring, eventually developing into medium to large-sized, slightly oval fruits that turn from green to a deep purple- black as they ripen.
The Arbequina olive tree is a compact, evergreen variety prized for its small, flavorful olives and high oil content. It has a bushy, rounded growth habit, reaching around 3.5 meters tall, making it ideal for gardens or containers. Self- fertile, it produces fruit without needing a pollinator, though yields improve with cross-pollination.
