The ‘Spectabilis’ cultivar is the hardiest bamboo with a yellow-green striped pattern. The culms of this cultivar take on a bright yellow colour at sheath fall, the time when the new shoots reach their full height in late spring, and are lined with solid green grooves (sulcus). When grown in full-sun the highlight tinge Spectabilis acquires appears in a streaking reddish colour.

Native to East China, the name aureosulcata is derived from Latin meaning ‘golden’ and sulcus meaning ‘furrow’. This species is upright growing, with narrow stature, perfect for use as a tall screen in the garden.

Full sun or partial shade in well drained soil. Protect from cold drying winds.

Ideal as screening or a feature.
